The movie begins with a flashback scene where Sharda (Rakhee Gulzar) is married to Thakur Pratap Singh (Dalip Tahil), a wealthy and respected landlord. They have two sons: Ram (Jackie Shroff) and Lakhan (Anil Kapoor). Sharda's husband has three brothers: Bhishambar Nath (Amrish Puri), Bhanu Nath (Paresh Rawal), and Deodhar Nath (Anand Balraj). They are greedy and evil and want to take over the property of their elder brother.


One day, they conspire to kill Thakur Pratap Singh and frame his loyal servant Kishan Lal (Satish Kaushik) for the murder. They also try to kill Sharda and her sons but they manage to escape with the help of Kishan Lal's wife Parvati (Sushma Seth). Sharda takes her sons to Mumbai and vows to take revenge on her husband's killers. She also tells her sons to never trust anyone in life.


The present




The movie then shifts to the present where Ram and Lakhan have grown up to be different personalities. Ram is an honest police officer who follows the law and respects his mother. He is in love with Radha (Madhuri Dixit), the daughter of the police commissioner (Anupam Kher). Lakhan is a street-smart guy who dreams of becoming rich and famous. He is in love with Geeta (Dimple Kapadia), a dancer who works for Bhishambar Nath's son Sir John (Anil Sood).


Ram and Lakhan face various challenges from their enemies who are still after their lives. Bhishambar Nath and Bhanu Nath have become powerful politicians and criminals who rule over Mumbai. They have hired a notorious gangster named Kesariya Vilayati (Gulshan Grover) to eliminate Ram and Lakhan. Deodhar Nath has become a sadhu who pretends to be holy but is actually involved in illegal activities.


Ram tries to expose their crimes and bring them to justice but faces resistance from the corrupt system. Lakhan tries to join their gang and make money but faces betrayal from his own friends. Ram and Lakhan also have conflicts with each other due to their different ideologies and goals. Ram wants Lakhan to become a responsible person while Lakhan wants Ram to become more flexible and practical.


The climax




The climax of the movie is when Ram and Lakhan finally unite to avenge their father's death and restore justice. They discover that Deodhar Nath is still alive and he reveals the truth about their father's murder. They also learn that Kishan Lal is innocent and he has been imprisoned for 20 years for a crime he did not commit.


Ram and Lakhan decide to take matters into their own hands and confront Bhishambar Nath, Bhanu Nath, Kes ariya Vilayati, and Sir John at their den. They fight with them and manage to kill them one by one. They also free Kishan Lal and reunite him with his wife and son. They then return to their mother and seek her forgiveness and blessings. They also get married to their respective lovers and live happily ever after.
